What does the free tier include?
Up to 25 results per search, locked to the last 7 days. One filter at a time — a neighborhood, a category, or a keyword. One saved search with a weekly Monday email showing up to 5 new matches. Hot Blocks and Construction Hot Blocks rankings are also free in full. Starter is for when you need the full archive, multiple filters, and daily alerts; Pro adds the prospecting signals, Opening Soon, and unlimited contact info.
What is the difference between Starter and Pro?
Starter ($39/mo) unlocks the core search: every filter combination, the full all-time archive, up to 1,000 results per search, 2 saved searches with daily alerts, CSV export up to 1,000 rows, and 10 contact reveals a month. Pro ($99/mo) raises the caps — 10,000 results, 5 saved searches, 10,000-row exports, unlimited contact info — and adds the prospecting signals (expiring-soon, license age, active buildout, growth) plus the Opening Soon permit list.
How does the 14-day Pro trial work?
Pro comes with a 14-day free trial. You get full Pro access immediately; your payment method is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Cancel from your account dashboard at any time during the trial and you won't be charged.
How is this different from buying a bulk list?
Bulk lists are static files that go stale the day they're printed. BizPulse updates every day from the City of Chicago's live records. You also get multi-filter combinations (neighborhood, category, event type, date), CSV export of any search result, and email alerts when new businesses match your criteria.
Where does the data come from?
Two daily feeds from the City of Chicago: business licenses and commercial building permits. We tie them together at the address and account level so a single business shows up with all its signals — building out, newly licensed, growing, or at risk. Every license issued, renewed, cancelled, or revoked in Chicago appears here, typically within 24 hours.
What contact information comes with each business?
Names from the public record: applicant, owner of record, and (on Opening Soon permits) contractor. For businesses with a public listing, the contact card also shows phone, website, email, socials, and hours. Starter includes 10 contact reveals a month (each reveal opens one business's card for the rest of the month; reveals reset monthly and don't roll over). Pro contact info is unlimited. Every business page includes one-click Google and LinkedIn search links so you can run a name lookup with the tools you already use.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account dashboard at any time. Your access continues through the end of your billing period.
Can I export the data?
Yes — paid plans can export any search result as a CSV file: up to 1,000 records per export on Starter, up to 10,000 on Pro. The CSV includes business name, address, category, license status, date issued, expiration date, and owner name.
What's Opening Soon?
Active commercial building permits at Chicago addresses that don't have a current business license — i.e. businesses that are building out right now, before they open. Pro members see the full address, applicant and contractor names, project value, and the empirical opening-window estimate.
Are more advanced analytics coming?
Maybe. We're working on a few directions — neighborhood velocity over time, industry trend tracking, owner-side expansion clustering. Nothing is dated or priced. Leave your email on the card above and we'll tell you when there's something worth showing.
Do you cover the entire Chicago metro area?
Currently we cover all businesses licensed by the City of Chicago (city limits). Suburban municipalities like Evanston, Naperville, and Oak Park have their own licensing systems and are not included. Metro coverage is planned for a future phase.
